Waterwomen Fiona Wylde has been on a winning streak racking up international titles in both stand up paddleboarding and wingfoiling events around the world. This past weekend saw Fiona put in superb performances at her first Wing Foil World Cup event to take home both the women’s Wing Foil Racing and Surf-freestyle titles. This was the second stop of the 2021 GWA Wing Foil Wolrd Tour series and took place in Dakhla, Morocco from 2nd to 6th November.

Fiona is ecstatic about her results from the 1st edition of this Wing Foil World Cup but admits she was rather nervous coming into this competition as she didn’t know what to expect.
“I came into this event with zero expectations. It’s my first GWA Wing Foil World Tour event and I’m leaving with two World Cup wins.
This will take a moment to sink in. Today, I will be completely honest, I was super nervous. After yesterday’s racing, Bowien van der Linden and I were tied dead even. Throughout the day, all the women’s racing skills improved, mine too. I made a few mistakes today, that actually I was proud of because they were mistakes I made because I was pushing it. It’s crazy, a little speed, a little motivation, a competitive field and it’s crazy what you can do. Super happy to take the win today!”
Fiona walks away with two GWA Wing Foil World Cup Wins at her first event, one in Wing Foil Race and one for Wing Foil Surf-Freestyle;
“Really, I’d like to say thank you to the @wingfoilworldtour and especially, @bowienvanderlinden, @orane.ceris, @paulanovotna & @marcelawitt for opening the door to what is possible for women in Wing Foiling surfing & Racing. This is just the beginning. I’m excited and I am super excited to see how far Wing Foiling can go! There’s no limit between here in the sky, let’s keep pushing and having fun! This sport is next level!
Thank you Dahkla!”

Making her debut for the FreeWing Dream Team Orane Certis battled it out with other professional wing foil athletes and alongside teammate Fiona Wylde on the past weekend at GWA Wing Foil World Tour Series 2021 at Dakhla, Morocco. It was such a delightful experience to see the French rider stamping her name in the wingfoil record books by taking 3rd place in the Race event and 4th in Surf-Freestyle.
Orane reveals on her surf day that she had never taken Surf-Freestyle at a competitive level before;
“I had never surfed before, only took it as training. So, the start of the week was hard for me psychologically because they changed the freestyle event to surf only!”
With all the dedication and her discipline, impressively, those ambivalent feelings cannot stop her from what she deserves. She won 3rd place in the Wingfoil Race event on this second stage and is ready to be better in the next stage.
“Can’t believe that I made another podium with 3rd place at the race discipline here in Dakhla! Overall, I finished some heats in third place and I even managed to win one at the end. Now, I managed to understand my weaknesses and I will work on them for the next step in Brazil!”
