We at Freewing chose a great name for our most cutting-edge wing.
Having grown up with winter sports I recognized this name as a brand name in snowboarding and I did not properly check trademark rights for use in watersports.
When the good people at the snowboarding company approached our German distribution partner, APM Marketing, about the name which is trademarked, we highly respected the great name they have been promoting and agreed to stop promoting the name in all the Freewing marketing activities.
As this product already features the most advanced technologies, as well as using Hoókipa Ultra PE material, we decided to use this opportunity to start with the ‘Team Series’ for the FreeWing brand. The current wing will therefore be promoted as N-TEAM, while the next model will be know as the AIR TEAM. Our marketing team will update our marketing measures accordingly, to promote this industry-leading product.
I would like to thank Nitro AG for finding an amicable solution and work things out with great sportsmanship manners.

The immediate responsiveness makes the N-TEAM feel like it has half a square meter more power.
Starting at well under 1.5 kg, the ultra-lightweight is something you feel instantly.
The extra stiff struts create control and a wider wind range, so you can enjoy the wing in more wind conditions.
The key to the N-TEAM is the new Ho’okipa Ultra PE high-pressure leading edge and strut, with our proven Ultra PE load frame.
Airush and Starboard have a combined 50 years of chasing responsiveness, lightweight and durability. Today, the FreeWing N-TEAM is the best example of this yet.
The HO’OKIPA Ultra PE fabric is 25% lighter than traditional Dacron leading edge materials. The reduced diameter structures and optimized details result in an overall weight saving of up to 30%.
High Pressure Leading Edge
Able to run 80 – 100% more leading edge pressure, creating a stiffer structure and ultimately allows for a thinner leading edge.
Load Frame Supported Canopy
Utilizing the same Ultra PE primarily fiber as the leading edge and struts, the load frame carries much of the primarily load running through the canopy.
This prevents the canopy cloth from overstretching and losing performance.
This also increases responsiveness by creating a more locked in shaping into the canopy.
Thinner Tips
Thinner tips reduce the oscillation of the wing when the wing is in neutral.
This makes the AIR Team easier to control when the wing is flagged out.
Higher Tension Canopy
The higher tension leading edge increases tension which improves the stability of the wing, low end-power and responsiveness.
Thinner Leading Edge
Reduces the drag on the wing, when the wing is flagged out while riding or down winding.
This is especially important in more offshore wave conditions to help keep the rider on the wave face.
Allows a higher angle of attack when going upwind or traveling at higher speeds.
High-Pressure Leading Edge and Strut
The biggest combined benefit of the Ultra PE is the ability to run higher pressure without sacrificing longevity.
This higher tension leading edge creates a much more responsive frame that can be loaded before jumping, pumps incredibly well and responds quickly to rider input.
BAG
The bag fits both the wing and the pump with ease. It also comes with carrying straps for your convenience.

Window & No Window Models
The AIR Team is available in both window and no Window versions.
The windowless version offers the lightest weight possible, however, windows may be required for competition.
Introducing Hookipa Ultra PE – by Challenge Sailcloth
Developed in conjunction with Challenge Sailcloth, this unique woven composite is the result of exhaustive development and testing, to nd the optimum balance between responsiveness, lightweight and long-term performance.
Traditional Ultra PE materials relied on a high percentage of films, coatings or glues to stabilize the material. The outcome of this was that these materials were strong, but either needed complicated seam constructions, had a limited amount of structural ber (for their given weight) or had inconsistent strength and distribution throughout the fabric.
Ho’okipa Ultra PE takes a reliable woven structure and supercharges the material through the use of Ultra PE instead of traditional polyester fabric.
The high amount of material in the composite that is structural, has allowed us to optimize all areas of the construction resulting in that beautiful blend of responsiveness, lightweight and durability.
Incredibly, the most high-performance fabric we have ever developed, comes with a reduced environmental impact, where Ho’okipa Ultra PE is made up of 48% recycled content by weight.
Understanding Ultra PE
• Ultra PE Fiber is a super-strong ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) ber that offers maximum strength with minimum weight.
• Ultra PE has extremely long molecular chains that transfer load more effectively. So it‘s stronger at the same weight or lighter at the same strength than alternatives. In a direct comparison to polyester, it is up to 32x Stronger.
• Ultra PE fiber is 15x stronger than steel at the same weight and 2x lighter than Carbon Fiber.
• As well as its extraordinary strength, Ultra PE excels in cut and abrasion resistance and has a high resistance to UV.
• Ultra PE fiber is so light that it floats on water.
• Stiff does not mean fragile, Ultra PE also has very high ductility – It can absorb a lot
of energy before it breaks.
Understanding the characteristics of this material is the key to the responsiveness of the AIR Team, the process of inflation places a higher tension on the fabric and you feel that immediately. This does not stop at the strut and leading edge but is integrated into the canopy through the Ultra PE load frame.

The N-TEAM is an amazing wing for freestyling and waves! Its power makes you fly very high when jumping and its maneuverability allows you to make impressive tricks with control! This wing is very stable when riding a wave, it gets forgotten and you can enjoy your ride as if you were surf foiling! A combination of versatility and performance!

The FreeWing N-TEAM is my go-to wing in the FreeWing lineup. The moment you pick up the N-TEAM you will notice how light this wing is. With a powerful pocket in addition to lightweight materials used to construct the FreeWing N-TEAM, completing freestyle maneuvers, wing surfing in waves, and attaining speed, is natural. The FreeWing AIR Team allows me to be creative on the water, exploring new possibilities to push the sport and most of all, have fun!
Look for me competing on the GWA Wing Foil World Tour this year with the FreeWing N-TEAM!

The Freewing N-TEAM is a weapon for waves and completely changed my freestyle. The higher pressure leading edge and strut give the wing loads of power that snaps in for great control in powering up and easing off, just gives such a direct feeling to the wing. All that power means I can use a smaller wing which opens up much more possibilities for big rotation tricks and big air. When surfing, the compact shape, ultralight feel and wing tips tucked in make sure the wing is super easy to handle so I can just enjoy the waves.
This wing changed my winging from day one and still keeps delivering.

For the last year, I have been using the Freewing N-TEAM as it is super versatile and does everything well. The Freewing N-TEAM was developed as a lightweight wing which is more wave oriented and is super stiff and responsive thanks to the new Ho’okipa material which is really mind-blowing.
This has quickly become my favorite wing which I have also been using this for freestyle riding and even racing. I sail most often with the 4m N-TEAM because it has a large range of use. I can sail from 12 to 25 knots making it a very practical & versatile wing.

The N-TEAM is a fantastic wing that utilizes our new Ho’okipa material to create a super light, super stiff wing that is a joy to use on the water. The low end on the wing is amazing but it still remains stable and easy to use in much stronger winds as well.
